Making Money with EBooks on Amazon: What I'm Learning

I did it! I posted my first journal on Amazon

Christian Journal freeandhumble.com

Do I know what I'm doing? Not completely, but it's really fun to learn!

I decided to start with low or no content books. What does that mean? I'm so glad you asked!

My no content books are just notebooks that I created using Canva (Possibly a tutorial coming in the future, let me know if you’d like to hear more!) then upload to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). (Once again, let me know if you want to hear more about that process!) I love to add special touches so I went a step further and added some images and sayings to the inside of the notebook as well.

After I published my journal I had been watching my Amazon KDP account religiously just waiting on that first sale. Then, IT HAPPENED! I sold two journals!! It works!! To say I was thrilled was an understatement, but what came next was a little unexpected.

Free and Humble Christian Journal

You see, I hadn’t told very many people that I was publishing a journal, but I did mention it to my mom. Now imagine my surprise when she excitedly told me, “I bought two of your journals!” She was so proud, “I bought one for myself and one for your grandpa!” I thanked her and acted thrilled, but a little piece of my excitement died in that moment. It shouldn’t have because my mom was only supporting me (she’s literally the best), but I thought a stranger had loved and ordered my book.

If there is anything that I’ve learned by starting a blog and dabbling in other adventures, it’s that you have to work hard and have patience. If you show improvement each month than you’re doing something right! Keep it up! Don’t get discouraged!

I’ve published several more journals since that first one and I plan to publish many more. I mainly focus on Christian journals that feature a scripture (because God has called me to follow closer to Him), but I’ve made some cute dancing journals as well (still featuring scriptures, of course). My youngest daughter dances and she has to keep a journal so these are perfect for her and her dance friends.

Here is the link to the books that I've published so far. I’m excited to see how this side hustle grows because it’s something I really enjoy.

If you do this as well please share your author link in the comments. Let’s support one another! Tell me your journey to becoming free and humble!

God’s Steppingstones: They’re Ready, Will You Walk the Path He Has Prepared

The original title of this post was, "God Lays His Steppingstones One at a Time", but that cannot be further from the truth. God has had His steppingstones laid out before the beginning of time. He already knows every step that will ever be taken. He only reveals them to us one step at a time. Let's be honest, that is not easy for humans, at least not for me anyway. I like to know my next steps before I take them. I want to know what will happen, how soon it will happen, and who will be involved, but things don't always work that way.  God is in control and we must always remind ourselves of that. However, there are some things we can (and must) control. Has God laid a stepping stone for you that you were supposed to step on a LONG time ago? I mean, I don't need to know, that's between you and God, but I know I've been guilty! Sometimes we wait on God's answers, but sometimes God is way ahead of us. He's just waiting on us to take that next step, w...

God Will Provide, Just Trust in Him: How He Used a Metaphor to Remind Me

Have you ever felt like a bird with clipped wings? No matter how hard you flap and wail around, you feel like you can't get anywhere. Sure, you still get some flight time, but it's slower and not as far as you would like. I have to admit that I'm feeling that way right now and my heart is hurting for others that feel the same.  It's easy to ask, "God, why? Why are you allowing me to go through this?" It's like we automatically assume that the scissors that clipped our wings are in His hands, but that's not usually the case.  THE BIRDCAGE Just five months ago, I was working at my nine-to-five (tucked nicely into my little birdcage). I had worked there for over 12 years and didn't really have plans to leave, but God had other plans . I was supplied with food and water (paycheck) consistently and my cage was kept clean and tidy (I had great colleagues and loved the work), but God wanted more for me.  THE RELEASE The freedom of being released from my b...

We’re Raising God’s Kids and They’re Watching Our Every Move

Something happened last night that I have to share! I had just gotten home from a softball meeting with my oldest daughter and as I was cooking supper I noticed that my youngest daughter’s Bible was open on the couch. I didn’t ask her about it right then because my oldest daughter’s boyfriend was over, I was cooking supper, and I was filling my husband in on the softball meeting. You know how life distracts you.  Anyway, after I was done cooking supper my youngest brought her phone over to me and wanted me to look at a couple of pictures. After I took her phone in my hand I realized these were no ordinary pictures. She had been reading her Bible and took the text from her Bible, and the lessons that she had learned, and made graphics with inspirational messages. Guys, do you know how much that blessed my heart?! My daughter is watching me. She sees me living for God, reading my Bible, and sharing the word. Now, she’s excited to do the same!  After our good night prayers, my gi...
