Finding God's Purpose for my Work Life

We spend a lot of time on this earth working. A lot. That makes the purpose of our work so very important. When I was young and contemplating what I wanted to do for a profession (besides being a mom because that’s all I really wanted to be), I was more concerned about how much money I would make rather than if it was righteous work for the Lord. However, recent world events and changes within my work life have given me a new perspective and left me asking the question, "are you working with purpose?" A couple of weeks ago when I was working full time outside of the home my answer to that question would have clearly been, "no." Since then I feel that God has lead me to step out in faith and live more righteously. To be honest, I have no idea what that fully means or what my next steps will be, but the anticipation is kind of exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m nervous. We’ve always been a two income household and we cannot afford for me to not work at all. Therefore, ...

Weekend Inspiration - There's Nothing You Can't Do (Motivation Straight From God)

This quote is meant to be an inspiration for myself and others. As I was about to lose my job , the Lord brought this quote upon me.  Now, before you read too far, let me just say that this really should read... "There's nothing you can't do with God, but you can't do nothing for God."  However, the photo in this post quotes the words exactly how the Lord placed them on my heart.  God knew that I already included Him in this quote. After all, I was letting Him steer me in the direction that He wanted me to go. God knew that I was about to take a giant leap of faith after losing a job that had offered me security for over a decade.  God knew that I was placing Him in control.  God knew that I needed this motivation! He was motivating me to do His work! That's right, I received a motivational quote straight from God! Now, if that doesn't motivate you, I don't know what will! I hope this quote will provide you with some inspiration and motivation as ...

How to Seek Guidance From God (What Worked for Me)

As you may or may not know, I started this blog because I lost my job. This is my second chance, my time to do something for myself and the Lord.  Leading up to losing my job ( you can read that story here ), I did a lot of soul searching through prayer, Bible reading, and way too much thinking. (I don't know when I'll learn to stop thinking and just pray and listen for God's guidance, but that's a post I'll save for anther day.) It's probably no surprise that most of my answers were received through reading the Bible. This is by no means the only way to seek guidance from God and every circumstance is different. However, His word tells us how to seek His guidance and this is what worked for me when I was faced with a decision of staying at my job or choosing to walk away. Find a quiet place. Maybe grab a cup of coffee, a cozy blanket, a journal for notes, a highlighter to showcase what stands out to you... whatever your heart desires to make this an enjoyable e...

Free & Humble. What's in a Name?

What's in a name... a lot.  Let's take a dive into why we're called, Free & Humble. FREE Merriam-Webster's Dictionary lists many definitions of the word free , but I think the most relevant to this brand name is.. . enjoying personal freedom : not subject to the control or domination of another You free to do whatever you want. After admiring entrepreneurs for many years, reading their books, and watching their videos, I decided that independence and freedom was exactly what I was looking for. After all, all I've ever wanted was to be a good and present momma. Granted, it was not the timing I had expected, but I know God is in control and I'm excited to fuel the car as He leads me in the right direction.  If you're looking for freedom, let this be a place of inspiration for you. Share your journey with me. Let's do this together.   John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free...

Losing My Job, Finding Myself (Becoming Free and Humble)

The News Monday, August 30, 2021, a date I won't soon forget.  Due to the pandemic, I had just started back to work less than a month earlier, and I was just getting back into the swing of things. That morning I had a meeting with my director and a couple area business partners. After our meeting, my director asked if I had a minute to talk. What she said next rocked my world. Some of the key phrases were... "They've decided to mandate the vaccine in our division." "You have until September 15 to get the first shot or you will be placed on unpaid leave." "You have seven days to file an exemption if you believe you qualify." "If you are not fully vaccinated by September 30, you will be terminated." Terminated. Not a word I ever expected to hear my director (my mentor, my friend) say to me.  She couldn’t look at me as she said that word. She noted that the words were hard for her to utter without her chin quivering.  The Thoughts Although t...
