When One Door Closes Another Will Open, if We Knock

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doors usually don't open for you unless you knock or unlock or open the door yourself. I mean, unless you’re at a business with an automatic door, but for the purpose of this article we’re going to talk about the traditional manual door structure. Now we’ve all heard the saying, “When one door closes another will open”, but will it? I don’t know about you, but if I walk up to a door it doesn’t automatically open for me without me taking some sort of action (knocking, unlocking, etc.) What I’m saying is, it’s easy for us to wait on the next big thing to happen in our lives. It requires no effort to sit in anticipation of our next opportunity. However, expecting something extraordinary to happen in your life without taking action yourself is often going to lead you to disappointment.  In Matthew the seventh chapter, one of the things the apostle Matthew writes from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount mentions actions we must take to “knock”. Ask, and it shall be ...

Weekend Inspiration - Be the First Bird to Sing After the Storm

It's so easy to get caught up in the storm around you. Have you ever found yourself complaining about something just because someone else brought it up? Would you have even thought to complain about it if they didn't place that burden upon you?  It's up to each of us to rejoice in the good things. Be thankful for the sunshine that follows the storm, but more importantly, share that with others. Give people a reason to be thankful, not complain.  In this season of Thanksgiving, it's not quite as difficult to be thankful because we're reminded of it daily, but what about the rest of the year? Don't be afraid to speak the first words of joy during a trial. Be bold enough to thank God when times are tough or the situation is scary. The darker the storm, the more beautiful we should sing after the rain passes because we should be more thankful than ever for all that we have.  Wishing you all a wonderful, free and humble , weekend.  Looking for inspiration or just w...

God Energizes Me Like a Battery

Have you ever heard a motivational speaker and immediately after their talk you’re ready to take on the world?! I’m guilty.  Most recently, I’ve been receiving my motivation through Christ and let me just say this is a whole new level of motivation! When I read words from thousands of years ago and God gives me exactly what I need to hear today, that’s motivation like no other. It’s energizing! I was recently praying for a young person that was going through a hard time and God gave me a simple message. Take that negativity that you receive from others and combined it with God's positivity to create a new energy for yourself. That's a mouthful and sounds strange, but I'll explain what I mean.  You will have many negative things in your life. If you choose to focus only on the negative, you'll never have energy to do anything. You will not be able to help yourself, let alone others.  Likewise, you will never experience all positivity in your life. God has given us freewi...

How Strangers Make You Successful - Not Friends and Family

I'm sure you're asking yourself, how can strangers make me successful. Your family and friends are the people that will support you, right?  The answer is maybe. Sometimes without realizing it, our closest friends and family members are actually the ones holding us back. Whoa, now I'm getting too personal, right? Just hear me out for a moment.  My friends and family say they support me in whatever I decide to do and I don't question that. However, because they're so close to me they're also the first to say... "I'm not sure that's the right path for you." "Have you thought about doing (insert anything) instead?" "I just don't want you to lose money." "You can try that, but shouldn't you get a regular job too?" Do they really intend to be negative? Of course not, but they feel that they need to be the voice of reason for us. It could be motivated by many factors. They might not truly know your knowledge or t...
