When One Door Closes Another Will Open, if We Knock

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doors usually don't open for you unless you knock or unlock or open the door yourself. I mean, unless you’re at a business with an automatic door, but for the purpose of this article we’re going to talk about the traditional manual door structure. Now we’ve all heard the saying, “When one door closes another will open”, but will it? I don’t know about you, but if I walk up to a door it doesn’t automatically open for me without me taking some sort of action (knocking, unlocking, etc.) What I’m saying is, it’s easy for us to wait on the next big thing to happen in our lives. It requires no effort to sit in anticipation of our next opportunity. How to Seek Guidance From God (What Worked for Me)

As you may or may not know, I started this blog because I lost my job. This is my second chance, my time to do something for myself and the Lord.  Leading up to losing my job ( you can read that story here ), I did a lot of soul searching through prayer, Bible reading, and way too much thinking. (I don't know when I'll learn to stop thinking and just pray and listen for God's guidance, but that's a post I'll save for anther day.) It's probably no surprise that most of my answers were received through reading the Bible. This is by no means the only way to seek guidance from God and every circumstance is different. However, His word tells us how to seek His guidance and this is what worked for me when I was faced with a decision of staying at my job or choosing to walk away. Find a quiet place.
